Passion of fashion: Marc Jacobs 1. Introduction 1.1 Background The reason leads Marc Jacobs be successful is his passion of fashion. In his early life, he not only worked in the field of fashion, but also spent his time on attending a school of art and design. He is a leading designer for Marc Jacobss products, who was born in 1963 in New York City. In addition, by the end of 1997, he was the Creative Director for French house Louis Vuitton (Emily R , 2009). By this major achievement, he decided to launch his first brand Marc Jacobs in 1986. After that, there are other two lines of the brand, which are Marc Jacobs Menswear in 1996 and Little Marc Jacobs in 2005 (New York Media, 2009). Marc Jacobs Daisy is the new feminine fragrance designed by Marc Jacobs which was launched in October, 2007 around the world. Moreover, the scent is presented as free and pure when it is said to be ââ¬Å"the essence of a youthful spirit: sunny, happy, positively fresh and freeâ⬠. (Moodie, 2002) 1.2 Theory Market segmentation and marketing mix are significant factors for analyzing. The market segmentation is the identification which distributes the market into different groups with similar characteristics, which allows the firm to better satisfy the needs of its potential consumers (James E, 2007). In addtion, according to Hall et al (2008), there are four main ways to segment the market; they are geography, demography, psychography and behavior. The marketing mix is a combination of marketing elements which is known as the 4Ps: product, price, place and promotion. It is considered in planning a marketing strategy which is necessary to sell a product effectively(Answers Corporation, 1999). The Marketing Mix includes product, price, place and promotion. Product is a good or service that meets consumers needs and makes profit to justify its continued existence (WebFinance Inc. 2009).According to Hall et al (2008: p.91), ââ¬Å"Price needs to fit in with the nature of the product itself and the way in which it is being promoted and distributed to consumers.â⬠In addition, products need to be available to customers in the place where they want to buy (Hall et al, 2008) and according to Hall et al (2008: p.106), ââ¬Å"promotion is the attempt to draw attention to a product or business in order to gain new customers or to retain existing onesâ⬠. 1.3 Aim The purpose of this market research is to analyze an advertising of Marc Jacobs Daisy. The first aim is to indicate the segmentation of the advertising. Secondly, analyzing the theme and name of the advertising and what medium is used to promote it. The third aim is to evaluate how the price and the place be considered. Finally, recommendations and conclusion will be given. 2. Findings The advertisement was taken from photographer Juergen Teller; the view of it is reflected in the elegant of a new fragrance ââ¬ËDaisy. The idea of this is to launch the perfume in a field filled with daisies (FashionUnited, 2009).It shows a youthful girl is wearing underwear and lying on an untouched surrounding with daisies, holding the Daisy in her hands. The stores are located in the main cities of a country, for example, London, New York and Shanghai. It means the consumer has ability to buy the product with fairly high income. In reality, companies always choose an attractive theme to advertise their product by using color emotion. From the view of advertisement, the main color green. Green means spring, new birth and environment awareness(Emily Gems. 2006). Therefore, this advertising is appropriate for the product and the theme of new birth and spring. -Product name Product name allows consumers to identify the goods and services of a company(Hall et al, 2008). From this perfume, Marc Jacobs used ââ¬Å"Daisyâ⬠to promote it as daisy is one kind of flower and it represents as purity and innocence (Dgreetings,2009).Therefore, it could relate to the theme and the product perfectly. -Medium Marc Jacobs has promoted their printed advertisement of Daisy by several above-the-line mediums. Magazine is useful for targeting a particular audience or market segmentation. For example, the printed advertising of Daisy has published on Vogue which is a famous fashion magazine in the world. In addition, there is the development of electronic screen. Therefore, Marc Jacobs has used these mediums to promote their printed-advertising in their own store or some retailers shop and the Internet is one major advantage as it can be accessed by consumers all over the world. In conclusion, Marc Jacobs has provided some useful promotion to publish their printed advertisement of Daisy. n 2. However, it is cheaper than some high-class brands perfume, Christian Dior is approximately à £50 (NexTag, 2009). Therefore, Daisy is an acceptable good which have a middle price. According to Women Perfume (2009), Marc Jacobs daisy 50ml is à £39, and the 100ml ones is à £49. It shows the pricing strategy chosen by the business because it has maximize profits by setting price as à £39 and à £49, but it can attract and misdirect the consumers. n 4.place Marc Jacobs Daisy has allocated their products to several mediums. Firstly, Daisy uses direct marketing which is selling from manufacturers directly to consumers by offering online ordering through a website on the Internet (Daisy, 2009). Secondly, from manufacturers to consumers via retailers, Daisy provided the product to the retailers, such as Boots and Superdrug and John Lewis ( Women Perfume, 2009). To sum up, Marc Jacobs has promoted the advertisement through the entire place; include the website, the retailer, magazine and Television. Therefore, if a good product will not sell at the right place and at the right time, it will not be successful (Hall et al, 2008). 4. Conclusion In conclusion, Marc Jacobs does very well on advertising of its new perfume product after doing a wide research from books and websites. The theme of the advertising is purity, and sells young woman of middle class income. In addition, the printed advertising has promoted in right place at a right time with a strategy price, and the price is acceptable. Therefore, all of them can bring up this well-known perfume in the world. 5. Recommendation For my recommendation, Marc Jacobs should develop some new methods for promoting and packaging. Marc Jacobs can have more below-the-line promotions, for example, free samples or free gives to the consumers who interests in the product. In addition, Marc Jacobs can have some small bottle packages which are better for taking or putting in a bag.

2. 1 Demonstrate how to identify potential hazards to the health, safety and security of children or young people, families and other visitors and colleagues. co.uk/2-5-food-safety/">Food safety:- â⬠¢Appropriate clothing-when handling food I wear latex gloves and apron and always tie my hair back â⬠¢Washing hands-children are taught the importance of why washing hands needs to be done when handling food. â⬠¢Food stock-at our school we have staff who are in charge of making sure the milk and fruit is in date and stored correctly. They distribute it around the school. Allergies to food-we send out and keep a file of consent forms. In my class there is a girl who is allergic to eggs and fish so when she handles them she has to wear latex gloves. â⬠¢Age equivalent equipment-we have plastic knives for the younger children to use. Before using equipment it is thoroughly cleaned and checked for damage or faults. We have cutlery with special grippers for children with special or extra needs. â⬠¢Food stored at the correct temperature-if using food for experiments or baking I must make sure it is stored correctly and at the right temperature to stop it going off. Food is in date-when using food in school I check the dates on the food before using it for any activity, if a child or member of staff was to eat go off food they could become seriously poorly. â⬠¢Food is disposed of correctly-when throwing away unused or leftover food we have bins outside of the building specifically for food waste. Physical:- â⬠¢Checking the environment-I always make sure the classroom is safe before the children enter, if going outside I check the area for any hazards. â⬠¢Display boards-make sure they are up to date and display notices to the children, staff and visitors on how to be safe around the school environment. Equipment-make sure all equipment is risk assessed and PAT stickers/stamps are in date before using equipment. If children were to use a faulty laptop they could be electrocuted. â⬠¢Spillages- clean up any spills in the classroom, in my class the children bring juice bottles for break time when they leak or spill I clean it up immediately to prevent slips and falls. â⬠¢Trip hazards- cables to computers and white boards must be out of reach for the children because if they were to trip they could easily hurt themselves. Security:- Unlocked gates: ââ¬â I always check that the gates are locked before allowing the children to go outside, this stops the children getting out and unauthorised people entering. â⬠¢Sign in- when entering the school grounds you must sign in and out, you are issued with a visitor sticker to show the rest of the people in the school that you are a visitor. â⬠¢Electronic zappers- all staff in my school have electronic zappers this is so you can gain entry around the building. This stops strangers and unauthorised people gaining access to the school. Phone system- in our school we hav e telephones in each classroom and room, this is so if an accident or incident happens staff are alerted immediately. Fire:- â⬠¢Donââ¬â¢t cover radiators- in our school we have blow heaters and these must never be covered my wet or damp clothing, they will overheat and could catch fire. â⬠¢New pupils/staff-when a new member of staff or pupil joins the school they are made aware of the fire procedures, they are given a tour of the buildings and made aware of the fire exits. Liquids by electrical items- we are not allowed to keep cups or glasses with any liquids in or around the classroom, if they were to be spilt by the computer that would be a fire risk. Children juice bottles are kept in a tray away from any electrical equipment. â⬠¢Fire drills- when the fire alarm goes off we line the children up on the playground and complete a head count to make sure all pupils are present. Personal safety:- â⬠¢Correct footwear- in our school we are not allowed to wear open to ed shoes or sandals. If we were to drop or spill something on our feet we could seriously hurt ourselves. Parents evening-we hold our parents evening in the hall, all teachers are together and never left alone. The teaching assistants run a creche facility together so we are never left alone with the children or parents either. â⬠¢After hours- when parents want a meeting with their childââ¬â¢s class teacher I always make sure I am present in the classroom so that the teacher is not left alone. â⬠¢Jewellery-we can wear stud type earrings but are not allowed to wear hoops or dangly earrings, this is because they can easily get caught or ripped out by the children.

As someone who identifies with both culture varieties in Louisianan and Hispanic Texan forms, one can see the various types of differences, including music, food, recreation, and life as a seventeen-year-old. As a senior in high school, my parents still give my commutes to and from school. This can be shown by the quote, ââ¬Å"In short, the society in which you grow up, and your particular location in that society, lie at the center of what you do and how you thinkâ⬠(James M. Henslin, 2014, pg. 3.) A noticeable confliction shows when my dad drives me to school, he plays the radio, which predominantly plays country music. However, when my mom picks me up from school, she uses Pandora, which gives her more independence on choosing the genre she wants. The songs she often wants to hear is Mariachi, a Spanish-speaking music genre which mixes pop culture in Mexico, folk tales, and current issues. When I either practice my driving or hang out with friends, music genre tends to lean towards what is popular amongst my age group and location, which is pop and country. When I am around my family and relatives, music tends to be in Spanish, such as Mariachi and Spanish Pop. A Mexican-American culture had been forming over generations in my family tree, as my grandparents are from Mexico and my parents are from South Texas. When I visit my grandparents and other relatives, who mainly live at the tip of Southern Texas, cultural changes start to become more apparent as radio stations change

SATIRE AND THE SIMPSONS Essay Most of the criticism regarding television programs lies in the fact that they have little or no substance. Programs such as Beverly Hills 90210, Friends or Dawsons Creek leave an educated viewer in despair while they grow restless searching for some sort of entertainment worthy of their intelligence. Ironically enough a sigh of relief comes in the form of a cartoon, The Simpsons. This program gives us an opportunity to laugh at ourselves, which is often sorely needed. The Simpsons is an excellent television show for the educated viewer because of the satirical comedy which lets us laugh while it deals with social issues. Being a cartoon strip is perhaps the most ingenious aspect of The Simpsons. Had the program consisted of live actors and actresses many of the issues would be too personal to address and much of the humor would be lost. Characters such as the tyrannical Mr. Burns and Barney, the drunkard, would lose much of their appeal if represented by live actors. The writers do not have to find actors or actresses to represent the characters they created. All of the characters in the Simpsons represent a stereotype of American culture. This extreme representation of stereotypes ethnic and racial serves as the foundation to the programs humor. Not only can we laugh at the antics of the show, but at ourselves as well. The broad range of personalities represented will likely include some aspect that almost everyone can associate with. This chance to laugh at ourselves is often sorely needed and gives us a chance to reflect on certain aspects of our own life. This satirical approach to comedy requires an educated viewer because of its subtleties. Each character in the show has something to offer the audience. Perhaps the best way of putting this is by saying that the writers of The Simpsons force their characters, from the immigrants to the local fundamentalist menace to the all-American elementary school principal, to follow their respective stereotypes strictly. There is Apu Nahasapeemipetilon, the Hindu convenience store owner who is familiar with the procedure for armed robbery; the red-neck named Cletus, the slack-jawed yokel; the red-haired, kilt-wearing, wolf-wrestling elementary school janitor, Scotsman Groundskeeper Willie; Grandpa Simpson, the shrinking, senile, debilitated old man; the heavy-metal fan and bus driver Otto, with his frequent acid flashbacks; and Waylon Smithers, the doll-collecting gay man with a crush on his boss. In fact, one show is completely centered around the Jewish faith, when Krusty searches for his estranged father, Rabbi Hyman Krustovsky. Unlike many programs where extras are used to just fill time and space, The Simpsons creators gave every character a purpose or strong character traits. Take for example Barney, a bright college student with a promising future. Homer introduced Barney to beer which transformed Barney into a drunk instantaneously. This tragic situation seems funny, but there are many people who turned to alcohol during their younger years and ruined what could have been a happy and fulfilling life. Their transformation probably occurred over a period of time longer than the one second it took Barney, but it did happen. That is the beauty of this comedy. It deals with individual problems in a manner where we can laugh at them and learn from their ordeals at the same time. Like most satire the show uses mockery, stereotypes, and humor to point out mankinds vices. The shows satire attacks traditional institutions such as the family and workplace as well as individuals. The most obvious examples of stereotypical behavior exist within the primary and nuclear family. The Simpsons family shares few characteristics with the ideal family in other comedy sitcoms; however that is where the true genius subsides. The family unit consists of a father, mother, three children, and a dog who live in suburban America. The father works for a nuclear power plant, the wife takes care of the ho use and kids, and the children except for Maggie are in grade school. They meet all the criteria of a typical suburban working class family. The bald, beer-guzzling, self-centered, irresponsible, forgetful, obese, lazy, and inhumanly stupid deadbeat dad. The show also challenges political stereotypes. Other institutions that are challenged in the show include the police department and the mayors office. Chief Wiggum, the captain of the Springfield Police Department, has all the stereotypical characteristics associated with police. Hes fat, lazy, eats donuts, and is corrupt. The only public official that rivals him would be the womanizing Mayor Diamond Joe Quimby who is even more corrupt. The evidence of satire in the Simpsons goes well beyond anything one essay can state. The Simpsons rose from a comic strip to a thirty second spot on the Tracy Ullman Show to the major prime time show that it is today. The creati vity of the writers produced a show whose popularity extends to foreign countries. It is this comedic setting that allows the shows producers to actually point out more serious problems in society today by addressing to moral issues and challenging stereotypes. Critics of the show claim that it is crude and needs to be put off the air, but I consider The Simpsons to be a show charged with constructive criticism towards our society. It is a clever portrait of the American Dream.
